Cape Verde entry requirements

What you need to enter Cape Verde — the traveller entry form (pre-registration), visa rules, passport validity and the airport security fee. Always verify before you travel.

Entry rules are exactly the kind of information that changes, so treat this as an orientation and confirm the current position on official government sources before you book. The single most authoritative source for UK travellers is GOV.UK.

The traveller entry form (pre-registration)

Visitors are required to complete an online traveller entry form and pre-register before arriving in Cape Verde. Do this in advance rather than at the airport.

The airport security fee

There is an airport security fee payable in connection with your arrival. Crucially for 2026: from 1 July 2026, travellers who have not completed pre-registration — or who cannot show confirmation — may have to pay a double fee at the border. We cover this in detail on the airport security fee page.

Visas

Many nationalities, including UK visitors, do not need a visa in advance for short tourist stays, precisely because the pre-registration system replaces it. Requirements vary by nationality — check the official guidance for your passport.

Passport validity

Make sure your passport meets the required validity for entry. Check the official guidance for the exact number of months needed beyond your travel dates.

Before you go — quick checklist

  • Complete the online entry form / pre-registration
  • Budget for the airport security fee (and avoid the doubled fee by pre-registering)
  • Confirm visa rules for your nationality
  • Check passport validity
  • Read up on health and safety
