Getting there and around

Preguiça Airport (SNE) takes domestic flights. Getting around is by shared aluguer or a hired driver along winding mountain roads. Distances are short but slow, so allow more time than the map suggests.

Who should skip São Nicolau

First-time visitors and anyone after a beach-resort holiday will find São Nicolau too quiet and too far off the trail. Choose Sal or Boa Vista for that. But if you already know Cape Verde and want somewhere genuinely untouristed, this is a gem.
